This position is governed by a local union contract.
Position Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with NRG and Environmental, Health and Safety policies, programs and procedures as well as Federal, State and Local safety and environmental laws and regulations.
Provide support as needed to Maintenance and Operations Departments on emergency and urgent work.
Perform the Gas Turbine Plant Operator functions as needed.
Promote productivity and teamwork in assigned area with open communication and timely decision making.
Ensure all Company resources are utilized in a cost-effective manner, estimate resource requirements, monitor expenditures, and report on the performance of assigned area.
Inspect, maintain and diagnose equipment, report any abnormal conditions to the plant management and prepare detailed work requests for plant defects.
Troubleshoot equipment problems utilizing technical reference manuals and documents.
Operate mobile cranes, forklifts, bobcats and other heavy equipment as required.
Read, interpret, and implement technical information found in manufacturers and OEM technical manuals, electrical and mechanical P &IDs, and operating and maintenance procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Associate degree in industrial technology combined with two years of work experience in power plants, industrial plants or Mechanic experience
In lieu of a degree, a must have a high school diploma or GED combined with five years of work experience in power plant, industrial plant or Mechanic experience
Ability to train and certify for the Gas Turbine Plant Operator function
Must recieve a rating of recommended on the NRG Energy Pre-Employment Skills Assessment
Must have a valid driver's license
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledgeable with machine coupling alignment.
Knowledgeable with the maintenance of pumps, compressors, turbines, generators, etc.
Machine shop experience preferred.
Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
Working knowledge of MS Office, Word and Excel are required.
Experience with basic business systems such as SAP, Word, and Excel.
Must be physically capable of climbing stairs and ladders.
Must be capable of physically demanding work at heights and with adverse conditions during maintenance activities as required.
Must be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds of weight.
Must be physically capable of passing a respirator physical and respirator fit test.
The position will require a physical exam and random drug screening.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
